Hi All,
Thanks for the informative thread.

I'm running a mainly 10.1 Slackware installation and I'm planning to upgrade my 10.1 kernel to the current kernel.

I plan to install the kernel , modules and alsa packages.

What I am wondering is if I should install the kernel headers package as well, as the the sites I have consulted seem divided on this issue.

I guess I want to know if my existing 10.1 programs will thow a fit with the current headers package Also I assume that I will need the current headers package If I plan to compile anything

PS will I need to exit to single user mode before installing the kernel packages
