Installin/upgrading Slackware Packages

Hi peepz,

I was just wondering whether I have to install Slackware packages again or I could just upgrade it?

I just downloaded the apache and proftpd patches from the slackware website. If I want to patch the current version, how do I upgrade it?

I saw the site, it says this:

upgradepkg oldpackagename%newpackagename (if they both have different names), otherwise you can use this:

upgradepgk packagename

Can someone confirm this?

Edit: By the way, where are the slackware packagesl ocated? Is it under /etc/bin?

Cheers big ears,

Spyiish

I use swaret to keep my systems updated. If you download a newer package compared to that installed on your system, "upgradepkg packagename" from within the folder you downloaded your new package will usually work fine.

Make sure you add alsa to the exclude list in the /etc/swaret.conf, or it will upgrade alsa and you will not even be able to run alsaconf without it not findingg your sound card.
