Installed flashplayer10 sbopkg in slack 12.2, but doesn't work, what to do?
OK, happy independence day America!
now, I installed flashplayer plugin and standalone too. plugin is not working?? So, any ideas on how to fix it or what? install reported no errors. thanks |
You are sure you installed it and not just built the package, right?
What browser is it not working in? Are you using an official package for that browser? If it is firefox check URL about:plugins to see if it is listed. If you have other versions of flash installed manually in other locations they could be conflicting. The slackBuild should have installed it under /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. No other copies of libflashplayer.so should be needed elsewhere. |
OK, there is flash in /usr/lib/mozilla
browser is firefox 3.0.10 I think libflashplayerso But libjavaplugin_oji.so, in same mozilla folder says "broken-link" could this be an issue and how to fix? |

libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/lib/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so Did you check about:plugins? Please list everything it has. |
You mean everything in Mozilla plugions folder?
there is libflashplayer.so, libjavaplugin_oji.so, libmozsvgdec.la, and libmozsvgdec.so I think it has to do with Java cause I was trying to use aol radio and it said my flashplayer wasn't installed so I uninstalled sbopkg flash10 and reinstalled sbopkg flash10, but no dice is Java connected to aol radio player? thanks |

OK, I did that and it says

Find more information about browser plugins at mozilla.org. |
Well if all you have in your firefox plugins is the null plugin when you actually have them installed in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins then /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins is obviously not in your plugin path. Install the official Slackware firefox package. If you are on 3.0.10 you need to upgrade to mozilla-firefox-3.0.11-i686-1.tgz anyways.
The official Slackware firefox package uses a small patch that adds /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to the plugin path. Without it, global plugins would be a pain because you would have to move them (from /usr/lib/firefox-*/plugins) with each firefox upgrade. |
