Unhappy Installation problem with LILO and X server

I'm a newb and I'm stuck so I came here for some help:

I dual boot with windows xp.

The first time I installed Slackware everything went great. No problems. I installed LILO to the mbr. However I decided to format my linux partitions and I didn't get rid of LILO.

Question #1:

I tried to reinstall Slackware and LILO gave me and error saying that it couldn't be installed but might be able to be installed manually. So I tried this and it said that it couldn't be installed again.

So I used a windows recovery cd and used "fixmbr". So at this point my computer just boots straight into window unless i use the first slackware cd to boot into slackware (i use "bare.i root=/dev/hda2 noinitrd ro").

I decided to try to install lilo now that the mbr is (im assuming) lilo free. I thought that having lilo all ready installed was what was stopping lilo from installing again. But again, no dice. Same errors as before and lilo remains uninstalled.

Question # 2:

When I use the install cd to boot into Slackware and type "startx" i get some errors giving some file names and it says "file or directory does not exist".
I installed the x server stuff and I have an xorg.conf so I don't know whats going on here.

Any advice or comments or ANYthing would be much appreciated as I am stumped.

Thanks

Hi Tylr, it would be really helpfull if you write down the errors and post them here exactly (I guess you get the point) as you see them. It's really hard for us to understand the problem when you say you're missing a file without saying the name, or just lilo is not installing.

Nevermind!

Fixed my problem
I feel pretty stupid now though. When I formatted my linux partitions i deleted them and made new ones because I wanted a different partitioning scheme. However, I made my root partition too small for all the files to fit on for a full install. I redid my partitions now and everything works fine.
