Installation problem
Hi all,
I downloaded slackware 10.1 from linuxiso.org and it errors each time I attempt to install it. I boot from CD but immediately get the error: "isolinux: disk error 80, AX=4280, drive 9F" Is this a problem with the download, a corrupt CD burn or something else? |
Could be either a corrupt download or corrupt burn. Did you check the md5sum of the iso you downloaded prior to burning? When burning, I have had consistently the best results when burning at 4x speed.

Yes, the md5sum matches up. I'll try burning again at a slower speed and see what happens. Although usually when I put a cd in the drive (winxp) it autoboots. When I did it with the slackware cd1 it simply opened the drive folder.

But, it is probably a corrupt download or bad burn. |

I would just go with a new CD ROM drive and keep the samsung as a spare. Maybe someone else can help you answer that question. Good luck, man!:D |

I've tried another 2 drives now and although the CD starts, on both cd's it seems to stick on the second file it copies (initrd.img) and then the same error appears :\ I'm going to try reburning to see if it makes any difference... |
