Ok, installation was simple, it was fine no problems with the cd-rom, fix my original Lilo problem....Now when I try to mount a cd, or my fat drive it says something about a bad superblock or whatever, and it won't read the disk or harddrive.

Forget about fat. You will fix it later.
Where is your cdrom located (hda,hdb,hdc,sdc,...)? Hda - primary ide master (usually hard disk),hdb - primary ide slave, hdc - secondary master (usually cdrom) and so on. Sdx - for scsi(also sata) devices. Check output of dmesg and lspci.
After you know the location, create directory cdrom in mnt.
Then as root:
#mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom_location /mnt/cdrom

Both my CD and DVD drivers are on the secondary IDE, I believe my DVD is on the Master, so hdc...Now to push this noob thing one step farther...im assuming the location would be hdc?

This is the name server, or DNS server. Usually, if you have a router you enter your router's IP.

Run alsaconf, then alsamixer (need to unmute), then alsactl store (saves settings). I think you should follow shilo's guide. Everything is explained there.

have you installed the alsa-xxx packages (alsa-lib, alsa-lib, and alsa-oss) and have you include all ALSA modules in the kernel if you build your own kernel??

Almost have Alsa working...just one thing happens...
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: line 660: cmp: command not found
And now it wont mount my music cd...this is the error
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
Please check that the disk is entered correctly.
Anyways, its online so things like this will be much quicker then switching in and out of windows...

Hi,
The slackbook section 5.2 covers network configuration. Apperently you overlooked that one! Others such as Slackbasics in section VI covers network configuration.
Apparently you didn't read them. Or you didn't understand how to translate to your problem.
