Firstly I think you should read the tutorial on this in the Slackware forum.
As for reinstalling the kernal what you need to do is basically recompile/compile the kernel. What I would suggest is recompile the kernel but store it in /boot/ as a different name so you don't overwrite your current kernel.
Then modify the /etc/lilo.conf to add a second kernel in it. (look at the bottom of the file) You basically have to make a copy of about 4 lines but make the second one point to your new kernel file and change it's Label to something else. This way when you reboot you will be able to go back if your new kernel configuration does not work for some reason.
I don't know your knowlage in the matter so if I've brushed over it too quickly let me know

Search these forums. The LQ forums. Try searching for "ifconfig" and "eth0" for the network and "startx" and "xorgconfig" for X setup. Also, the stickied thread has great information in it. Check it out.

Windows says the Fat32 drive is unformatted, is there some way to fix that?

Wouldn't right-click > format do the trick? Or is something on that hard disk?

I wasn't going to format from windows because i thought it might effect linux....
But I can't do anything until I get the network working and the mounting problem fixed...
That kernel thing confused me btw.

Hi,
You could read some on-line reference. Several in my sig.
Shilo's is good and Darrell's is another good one. Of course all the Slackware references are helpful.
Pick one and read!
HTH!

Also the search didn't turn up anything useful about my drive mounting problem, i'm going to write down what it says and post it later.

Type this as root:
ifconfig
and report what it says. If there is no eth0, you will have to find the driver for your ethernet card. Installing is fairly simple, as most linux drivers come with installation instuctions.

Well...
Host Name: Darkstar
Domain Name: example.org(didn't work lol..i am a scrub), and my routers IP address...and megalomaniac.is-a-geek.com
DCHP thing...
Then it asks for this weird thing about name thing that your router might give your computer and i just left it blank....
I think thats everything...

To use sata kernel, copy it into /boot directory and add entry to lilo conf corresponding to sata and your linux partition name. Then run #lilo to update it. If you installed lilo to MBR, there is no difference which kernel you should use (lilo will stay in MBR).
Example.com should not work because you don't own this domain. Try to ping your router:
$ping router's ip adress here

With adduser can you control what the user can and cannot do?
I now have "X" configured
Is there a way to upgrade to 10.2 without getting the entire distro?

So how do you have X configured if you can't mount cdrom?
I guess you can mount it. In this way take sata kernel from it, you don't have to have net connection,
