install slamd64 from usb cd-rom

Hi,

I'm having trouble to install slamd64.
I can boot the CD without problem but when it's time to choose source (CD) it can't be found.
I haven't got any floppy or other nfs-share to install it from and I can't tell which device to manually mount the CD from, dmesg tells me nothing about the dev.
How do I get information on which dev the CD is attached to?
I've also tried to mount a usb memorystick but I can't find that either among the dev's.

Did you try modprobing these: (or modprobe also doesn't work?)
usb_storage
uhci_hcd
ohci_hcd
ehci_hcd

I'm not sure if your cd will be found but these are needed for usb to function properly.

allen is write and i m sure that due to older version of bios u can't install from that cd because during installation it would probe an error message

could not find the cd/dvd or installation cd
or
could not acces the cd drive because the processor awaits the data tranfer through ata/sata port however its coming from usb port so the cd becomes non-accessible during installation :study:
