after the first step, when I enter
Code:
mount /dev/hda3 /slacktemp
I get this error
Code:
mount point: /slacktemp does not exist
and when I try
Code:
~#mount /dev/hda3 /slacktemp
I get
Code:
-sh:~#mount :not found
Did I do something wrong? I made sure I typed everything correctly..

You should start with `mkdir /slacktemp`. Don't enter the ~#s -- they're just a guide to tell you to enter the following commands at a console.

Ok, but still I'm getting the mount error. Is the mount point suppoed to be:
Code:
/dev/hda3 /slacktemp
hda3 is the partition that I installed slack on..

That sounds right to me...but just in case try `fdisk -l` to list all of your partitions just to make sure it's correct. I'm afraid you may have to wait for someone else to chime in.

Ok, I did the 'fdisk -l' and now I get all the way to 'cd /slacktemp/etc'. It says 'cannot find /slacktemp/etc'

Post the output you get from 'fdisk -l'. Did you manage to mount your hd at /slacktemp? If you cd to /slacktemp (and not /slacktemp/etc) and do `ls -a`, what do you get?

O.k., the hard drive on my laptop gave out, unfortunately. Now all I have is a 30gb laptop hd. which isn't enough for winblows to share with Linux, I guess I'll just have to lay it off for a while.

Thanks for all the help though.

The 30GB HDD is more than enough for Windows and Linux.

Not with all of my games. When I'm done installing the games I have about 4gb left.

HDD are rather cheap nowadays, I just got some 160GB EIDE for about $58 each. You could get your Windows and Linux installed on the 30GB and working then add another HDD to use as a support. A lot of games on that Windows!

Yeah, I have a 320gb external drive, but the USB port on it's back is broken somehow. The company won't return it because I don't have the reciet anymore, and most of the computer repair places around me won't fix it because it voids the warrenty..even after I explain how I can't return it either way..

And yup, I love them games!:

World of Warcraft (not expansion, computer to crappy)(6GB)
Half-Life(4GB)
Half-Life2(4GB)
WarcraftIII & expansion(1.5GB)
Diabo II & expansion(3GB)
Starcraft & expansion(1.5~GB)
Command & Conquer The First Decade (8GB)

Buy another enclosure and swap the drive into it.

Removed some games, now I have enough room for linux and windows.

After I install, and try to write lilo to my MBR and I get the error, I should do:
Code:
mkdir /slacktemp
fdisk -l
mount /dev/hda3 /slacktemp
chroot /slacktemp
cd /slacktemp/etc
vi lilo.conf
lilo -v -t -b /dev/hda3
lilo -v -b /dev/hda3
I'll post again after the install.
