Install freezing

I've been trying to install Slack 9 onto a Compaq Proliant 5000, and I know it is possible with my hardware config, but whenever the install is copying/decompressing the files, it will freeze, usually on a file that is rather small compressed but rather large uncompressed. None of the other vterms work. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks
Nick

Maybe increasing your swap size will help.
