Oh darn, let me see, I just ran that little script it gives you under sudo for system wide, I'v never had that issue, but I've had to just keep installing it one way or the other until I get it to work. then its fine.
You built and installed libavc1394. That is not the same as libav.
The libav sources are a fork of ffmpeg that is not as widely used as its forkers expected.
When you run Linux, Video DownloadHelper tries to use the binary avconv, part of the Libav project.
However, if Libav is standard on Ubuntu, OpenSUSE for instance uses ffmpeg to perform the same tasks (converting videos).
So, if avconv is nowhere to be found on your Linux system, ffmpeg is being used instead.
Libav is a fork ffmpeg, and for now they are close enough to be used interchangeable.
OpenSUSE users reported success using ffmpeg with Video DownloadHelper.

Your right.
I installed the wrong pkg:- However I removed it.
I really don't want to install the libav-11.11.tar.xz because I've learned it's not good to mix SlackBuilds with regular tar.xz on a Slackware system. In fact a few of our members here strongly advised me not to do that.
I imagine he would install his own ffmpeg packages. He has the "restricted" version which includes libraries that may be illegal to distribute in certain places in the world and a legal, free and open-source version.

If you find a prize, let me know:--lol!
Yeah I hope it works for me too.
I haven't tried it yet because I'm at crossroads with installing either ffmpeg or libav. Waiting to see what Alien Bob says.
Also I'm using FF 52.6 which is what was last updated the last upgrade on my Slack box.
I'll have to run the latest firefox.sh script to bring my browser up to date.
