initrd + nfs-root support

I own a Joggler http://www.jogglerwiki.com/

This device does not have a PXE rom, however I would still like to boot the root partition via NFS.

At the moment, my joggler boots Slackware via a USB flash drive, but i would rather just use the USB flash drive to mount /boot only - and use a specially crafted initrd what then boots the root partition using nfs.

The Slackware initrd does not have NFS / Networking stuff built in, anybody know what I need to add / change / edit to the initrd?

I tried setting up diskless PC(The PXE clients boot off a NFS root) and I just recompiled my kernel to include NFS and the client's NIC module and it went quite OK. Of course there're some more details that I didn't remember but kernel recompilation part is the one that you can do :)

When my joggler boots it complains about not finding: /dev/nfs: No such file or directory

However, I already have a diskless PXE client what has a PXE rom and that does not have a /dev/nfs and that works ok.

I have ALL the nfs server and client stuff built into the kernel[*]

The main configuration largely centers about your server instead of your client. Does the kernel that your client boots have at least NFS and it's own NIC module(I mean NIC that your client uses to boot PXE) loaded inside the kernel?
