imaps using defualt UW imapd

I'm trying to get imaps working in slack 11 without installing courier-imap which is what I have always done in the past. I see conflicting information everywhere and I'm not sure what the best path is in slack at this time.

Is stunnel the only option for imaps using the default UW imapd installation? Is there a good guide to getting stunnel set up correctly. I have tried a couple times and I keep getting various errors. If this is the only way to go then I will put some mroe effort into it.

Thanks in advance,

OK well here is where I'm at. It appears that the imapd with 11 is compiled with ssl enabled so I created a key and put it in /etc/ssl/certs/imapd.pem and then I edited /etc/inetd.conf to read:
#imap2 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd imapd
imaps stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd imapd

There was some post somewhere that seemed to indicate that imaps should not be run through tcpwrappers, but I don't seem to be having problem, maybe it will show itself later if I'm lucky.

The important part is on the email client forcing it to use ssl. This seems to work just fine... so I guess I will call it a day.

Is this the optimal solution? I'm confused as to why there is little or no documentation for this, do most folks just no worry about secure email traffic?
