If you're using nv driver on laptop

If you are using the nv driver on a laptop I recommend trying turning "FPDither" on. It makes a huge difference in display quality.

So in the "Device" section of '/etc/X11/xorg.conf', add this
Code:
Option "FPDither"	"True"
I didn't know about it, but was trying to fix the weird 'bleeding' colors my screen gave me. And that fixed it ... which is awesome

Hope that helps. Maybe you already know this...

Why am I posting this here ? Because I'm using Slackware. I guess you guys can move it if you want.

Call me a n00b, but why would you use nv instead of nvidia's driver? I haven't had a single problem with theirs.

I've had many problems with the nvidia driver, mostly because the guys who made it did not make the installer very well. It won't remove properly, it overwrites things without telling me or giving me an option or even saving what it overwrote in case I need to safely remove the drivers. It's also difficult to upgrade the driver to a newer version, sometimes it works, other times it gives me errors. It's a real pain I think.

The nv drivers works great for anything I need to do, and they are FLOSS, and they don't mess things up. There is no reason for me to use the nvidia drivers. I'll probably try the nouveau drivers when they become stable enough (hopefully they will be better).
