Feel free to rewrite them if you have some time you need to kill, but having it bash free does not need to rewrite the scripts in python, just remove the bashisms from the shell scripts. I don't remember exactly, but I think someone has done that a few years ago.

I don't usually deal in such hypotheticals. If Slackware were to cease development on the Volderking front, it'd probably get picked up by somebody else. If it didn't, I'd still probably figure out how to run Slackware.

These questions are kind of silly. Sorta like those who-would-win-in-a-fight scenarios.
