ieee1934. ohci1394 modules install error.


Hi,
I am new to slackware linux.

I want to communicate with IEEE1394 devices for get the live image from firm wire camera. i installed the libraw1394-1.2.0,libdc1394-1.1.0 libraries and then try to install the modules ohci1394, and ieee1394 in my slackware 12 system it gives the following errors.


root@slackware:~# modprobe ohci1394
WARNING: Error inserting ieee1394 (/lib/modules/2.6.21.5-smp/kernel/drivers/ieee1394/ieee1394.ko): Invalid module format
FATAL: Error inserting ohci1394 (/lib/modules/2.6.21.5-smp/kernel/drivers/ieee1394/ohci1394.ko): Invalid module format

please anybody give the solution for this.

Could you post output with: uname -r ?
(sorry, don't think it would help much..)
No error shown with ' dmesg ' command after the failed modprobe attempt ?

Where did you get these modules, and how exactly did you install them? Those messages indicate that they were compiled against a different kernel.

I got ieee 1394 working on my Slack 11 system some time ago. If I remember correctly I re-built the kernel with some additional options. When I look at the output from lsmod on that machine now I see that ohci1394 comes up but not ieee1394. Could be that I built that into the kernel. Sorry if this is not a complete guide but I can assure you that it was possible to get it working with a combination of kernel re-configuration and modprobe.
