id3 tag info and lame

I have a bunch of mp3 files with info in the id3tag that I'd like to keep. The files I have can be compressed further with lame to a mp3 again-how do I tell lame to use the id3tag info in the file to be compressed?

Why not just try the compression once, and see if it works?
