You know how Nautils generates previews for media icons? Is it possable to make it do the same for Ogg (Video) files... or any other formats for that matter, assuming you have the right codecs installed?
solved.
assuming you have done everything else right,
you may just need to edit the $HOME/.gnome/mime-info/user.keys file
in this case, the ogg file type was assigned an icon in the icon_filename field
to generate a thumbnail leave this field blank
