IBM/Lenovo TrackPoint

My Lenovo X200 is very slow to boot now using 13.37 current 64 bit Slackware. It used to boot up in less than 30 sec, now it's over a minute. Booting hangs up with:

TPPS-2 IBM TrackPoint as /drivers/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/input/input11

Is this related to the udev-182 gripes in this forum?

I'm on a T61 and I don't have any udev gripes with the TrackPoint. Did you make additional configuration for your TrackPoint (e.g. via xinput, evdev, udev or sysfs?)

My R61i works great with latest -current updates. I'm using custom-built 3.4.6 kernel with tp_smapi patched in, which is used to configure trackpoint sensitivity and battery charge thresholds.

I'm on a T520 running on Slackware64-current and my TrackPoint works great. Haven't noticed any hangs at boot time.

I'm using Pat's kernel image + tp_smapi from SBo.

My trackpoint always worked OK, even before the latest 64 bit current update. it still works OK, but the laptop boots very slowly. No, I haven't made any config changes to any file. It's as is.

I found another thread about retrograding to udev-175. This fixed the horribly slow boot.
The problem has been temporarily solved.

Are you sure the problem has something to do with the trackpoint? According to this post the problem seems to be in networking device:http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...7/#post4735816

Yes the trackpoint showed up in between at around 16s. But when booting with older udev (which does not show this excessive delay), the trackpoint also shows up at around 16s.

You can check what's in your case.
