Another option

If things go OK, but not great, you can try the KDE Control Center after Slackware is installed. If you check under the peripherals section it has a configuration program for your card, display and so on. I've only ever used it for the card and the display, so I can't say much about the keyboard or mouse sections (did that by hand). But when you go into the card and monitor sections it has a list of manufacturers and their supported products and if you choose yours it knows your horizontal sync and so on, and lets you pick your resolution and a couple other things. Click apply it writes to your X86 config file.

It worked for me.

Have fun,

joe f.

Something else you can do is go to the manufacturers site, in five minutes I knew the rates for my monitor.

I'm supprised that it didn't work with the default vesa though....never had that happen to me....

Congrats little_ball. I too converted from Redhat to Slackware a few months back. You won't be disappointed.
