I used windows's fixboot on my root partition....

I made a huge mistake of using Windows XP's FIXBOOT on my root partition, now when i try to boot Slackware i get kernel panic....

If i mount the partition using the CD-ROM i get a bunch of invalid data, i tried rebuilding the reiserfs-tree but no sucess.

supposedly fixboot only messes with the initial data table of a partition, therefore the remaining data is still there, so is there any way for me to recover the data?

cfdisk still sees the root partition as ReiserFS

Using Slackware 10, and ReiserFS on /

no, but i booted from my lilo floppy disk, and i got the same error, I think lilo is not the problem since the errors are on my / partition.

this is how my file system looks like:

/dev/hda1 --> Window XP
/dev/hda2 --> /boot (working fine)
/dev/hda3 --> / (all screwed up when I mount in the cdrom)
/dev/hda5 --> /home (its working as well)

if everything fails I will reistall Slackware without deleting the stuff in /home, but i will lose the few stuff i had in / ...
