I love Slackware
This is the first time I am using a Linux box as my main desktop and so far I am loving Slackware. Sure, it gets me pissed/spanks me sometimes but it is great.

Glad you like it. It's been my only distro for 5-6 years now. It's a distribution of choice for many Linux users here. It does exactly what you tell it to do
Happy Slacking!
Edit: make sure you visit the Slackware Documentation Project where you can learn and/or share Slackware knowledge.

Although Slackware was probably the second Linux (after Ubuntu) I ever tried, back in Slackware 12 I can't say I am a good linux user, most likely an average one. This is the first time I am trying really hard to setup slackware as my desktop, without going back to windows (my comfort zone). I get really pissed off at some things but eventually I will get everything working (I will flood linuxquestions xD).

We are here to help. This is an exceptional channel as the Slackware maintainer himself and his lead developers regularly post here.

Welcome, and I hope Slackware will serve you well.
Slackware was my first (must have been 3.*, around 95 or 96). But then I gave up UNIX for a while, and then came back and tried Caldera, Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS, OpenSUSE, DSL, and Debian. Then I tried Slackware again (it was at 13, I believe), and realized what a fool I was. None of these, with the possible exception of Debian, can hold a candle to the pure genius found here. Praise "Bob"

May the "Dobbs" be with you...
Slackware is one of the most mature, we'll documented, and sustained distributions you'll find. Great care goes into this work of art.
I've technically moved on from Slackware to Linux From Scratch, but often I find myself referring back to Slackware for documentation, package building instructions through the SlackBuild scripts, and other useful tidbits here and there. Dare I say, you don't even have to use Slackware to benefit from it sometimes. It's just that good a distribution.

Before I used Slackware, I was a boy. I became a man right after I found out the 13.37ness in a DVD ISO. 14.0 is dope on this old dual core 2.0 GHz laptop and 14.1 just waiting for a better box to be configured.
I broke my install ever more than before by fiddling, been well worth it.
Regards.
