Unhappy I cant login using an user I haveve created!

Hi!
The problem I have is that when logging in using an user I-ve created, it seems to log in correctly but the fortune and mail programs cant run and then, before starting the shell the logon message appears again (and i have then to log as root to acces the comp because if i try using my user again the same thing happends).

thanx in advance
