HP6730 wifi disable with 3.9.x kernel in slackware-current - RF_KILL error

Since upgrading to the 3.9.x kernel branch in Slackware current, the wifi on my hp6730 is disabled at boot. syslog/dmesg show rf bit is set to disabled. I get this from rfkill list:

rfkill list all
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: yes
        Hard blocked: yes
1: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: yes
        Hard blocked: yes
Hard blocked is shown as yes, but the wifi button does not work. I am able to restore wifi by executing "rfkill unblock all". This enable both wifi and restores the wifi button function (able to turn wifi on/off via button). To restore wifi on boot, I had to hack rc.M by adding "rfkill unblock all" before rc.inet1 is called.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? What can I enable in the kernel to force the wifi bit on during boot?

Should also add that if I switch back to the 3.8.x kernel, the wifi is automatically enabled on boot and there is no RF_KILL error. This is the same behaviour as with all other previous kernels.

Yes, same issue here on a HP 8530p. Googling didn't uncover why. I just put an rfkill unblock wifi in /etc/rc.d/rc.local and forgot about it.

Kernel bug 60595 opened. I dislike the rfkill hack so rolled back to 3.8.13 until this gets fixed. Might build and take 3.10.1 for a spin when I get some time.

Just wondering if adding rfkill unblock all in rc.local is the only solution ? I am testing slackware 14.2 and having this problem. 13.1 and 13.37 have no problem with same laptop.

hp6730, rfkill, rf_kill, wifi
