I have no answer as to why, but mine also does this occasionally. I have found the quick cure is to open CUPS, remove the printer then re-install it. This has always cured the problem for me.

Yeah, that works for me as well.

Addendum:

Under 14.1 I haven't experienced it yet, but my HP LaserJet 1015 used to stop working from time to time. You could even tell it by the sound it made: When you plug the USB cable in and power it on it makes a (self-test ?) noise and stops. After a short pause it makes another noise which I believe is an indication of firmware upload. If this second noise isn't heard then the printer doesn't work. In the case of this printer I had to use a proprietary plugin which handles the firmware.

I ended up writing a simple script to quickly reinstall the plugin:

Code:

yes | hp-plugin -i -p /location/of/hplip-3.13.10-plugin.run
I saved it as printer.sh and made it executable. When I run this (as root!), that second noise is heard and the printer is back to life. The plugin file I obtained from the official HP website.

I also add line "ErrorPolicy retry-job" to cupsd.conf, this prevent hangs priting if any little error.

My HP Laserjet 1000 works like a champ most of the time but occasionally doesn't print. Usually removing and reinserting the USB cable sorts the problem. I suspect it's a hardware issue with my PC anyway as it's an old motherboard. I did though have to use the foo2zjs driver rather than the standard HPLIP stuff to get it working though.

Yes thanks to all.
It's as you said:
I removed prinetr and added it again.
I removed using localhost:631
I added using hp-setup -i command as root.
Now printer is working fine.

Do you have hplip install? If so, run it.
