Question How to upgrade glibc?

About a year or so ago (maybe 2) there was a glibc update and on
the Slackware site there was a procedure listed describing how to
upgrade glibc on a running system. I followed the procedure
and it worked very nicely.

I would like to upgrade my current Slackware 8.0 with the new glibc
that was released this past spring .. and trying to find this
upgrade procedure.

The last time I tried to do it, I went into single user mode.. but I
ran into all sorts of problems when the old libraries were removed.
I forget the exact details, and how I ended up fixing things, but
the system was in a real mess for a while along the way.

I am trying to avoid those problems. What is the best procedure to
upgrade glibc?

Maybe it was that simple. I just forgot what I did
before that worked so well.. but remembered that if
it is not done correctly it can make a system
unusable.. real quick.

I assume it is best done while in single-user mode..

I will have to give it a try this weekend. Thanks.
