How to stop screen blanking during inactivity
Running -current, the screen goes black after a few minutes of inactivity, except when watching videos.

I'd like to disable this behaviour, but don't know how. Sometimes I want to read slowly or just watch a flash video and the screen blanking briefly interrupts me.

My window manager is ratpoison, but as this also happens when I'm using the TTYs, I don't think that's anything to do with it.

If you start your window manager with startx, you can put these lines in your ~/.xinitrc file.

/usr/bin/xset -dpms
/usr/bin/xset s off

This disables DPMS (Energy Star) and the screensaver. See also man xset.
