How to set wireless card band in KDE and NetworkManager

I have a Slackware64 14.2 computer with the KDE desktop. I have installed a D-Link AC1200 Dual Band PCIe card, "11AC Wi-Fi", dual band 2.4GHz/5.0Ghz. This connected just fine with an ASUS RT-N66U dual band wireless router. It will NOT connect to an AT&T 5268AC cable-modem with wireless. In examining the stats on the AT&T I noticed that this D-Link is the only device (of 4) on the 5 GHz band. All other devices, which work just fine, are on the 2.5GHz band.

How can I change my D-Link card to use 2.5Ghz instead of 5Ghz?

I don't know how much help this will be, but

My router broadcasts both 2.4 & 5 GHz and have separate access configurations for each. I can connect to either the 2.4 or the 5 GHz. They both show up in my networkmanager as "router" and "router-5GHz". Maybe you can configure it like that somehow?

Skendo: I'm advising an associate remotely on getting his connection working. Yes, there is no doubt a way to configure the ATT to permit connection at 5GHz, but I thought it would be an easier task for him to direct the D-link card to use 2.5GHz only. Ideas?
