Boot from Slackware cdrom, mount your harddisk and use:
Code:
installpkg -root /where/you/mounted/yourharddisk glibc
That's not the exactly command, but I guess you'll get the point

Did you removed glib only? Where does that happen, when yo try to boot from hdd?
Also, did you upgrade to current before doing this?

ok i removed 4 or 5 packages from pkgtool . All of them were glib ..... related ones . Then rebooted and since then nothing works
I followed your suggestion to boot from the cd 1 but

i cannot even do that .

You should be able to boot from CD, check your BIOS boot process and setup to boot from CD first.
Once you boot from CD, mount your harddisk to somewhere like /mnt.
Then goto slackware/l directory, and type:
Code:
 ls | grep glib
Install all those packages with: installpkg -root /mnt packagename.tgz
Then pray

PS: Be carefull when you are root.
PS2: Glib and Glibc are vital pieces on Linux software, don't mess with them too much.

Ok... you get those errors when you boot from CD or your hard-disk installation? Could you install the packages?
If the problem is with the CD, can you boot with any other Live CD you may have?
And again, were you running 10.1 version or -current?

Im in slackware 10.1 and typically when kernel fails or lilo is misconfigured you boot slackware using a boot cd

I think i cannot do this anymore because glibc is gone . I entered the cd then typed linux root=/dev/hda1

bla bla bla and freezes ..

Thanks for the help

Well, don't use the root=/dev/hda1 lines because that will try to use your disk as root where the glibc are missing.
Boot without parameters and do what I said earlier.

the error message reports that cannot create
/usr/lib/setup/installpkg: cannot create /mnt/ /var/log/setup/tmp/tmplist8131:
Read-only file system

so far my hd is mounted under /mnt
and the cdrom under /var/log/mount

and i typed installpkg -root /mnt the glibc package.tgz

mount your harddrive with the rw (read-write) option, like: mount -o rw /dev/hdX /mnt

I'm out of ideas...
You could keep trying until you add the correct pacakge that was missing or well, just reinstall to save some time.
