How to reset the default console font?

I recently installed slack 10.1 on a pentium III machine.

Bold typeface (e.g. directory names) or coloured text (e.g. executable files, links) in my console come up as what looks like Thai characters. Ordinary text is fine and there is no problem at all with xorg.

I presume that this is because I made a bad choice (can't remember what it was) at the screen font selection window and my graphics card (ATI Rage) can't handle it.

How can I change the console font?

Thanks in advance,

Choose a font in /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts and :
setfont -v <your font>
