i searched the internet, for setting up kdm on slackware.
i found a few resources and followed the directions.
however instead of kdm i get the default login manager.
i set the runlevel to 4 and adjusted the users,my question
is,how do i get the kdm login instead of the default login?
any help would be appreciated!!!
Rick
Can I ask why you think kdm isn't being used? At least in Slackware 12.1 kdm is kind of the default since I don't think gdm is installed and kdm is the next in line to be used. At any rate, in /etc/rc.d/rc.4 you can try commenting out both the gdm and xdm entries and see if that gets kdm to start. You also might try running which kdm to make sure it is installed and in the correct place.
You do not have to install KDM, Slackware uses it by default every time you boot into RunLevel 4. If you want to use a different KDM theme then go to www.kde-look.org and go to the kdm section, select a project. In the project there should be an area that says how to install it. Follow those instructions and you should be using a new theme.
inthe control center there are two login managers, kdm, and login manager.
the login manager is totally different than kdm,i just dont know how to override the login manager.can it be removed?im using 12.1
