How to mount External Hdd
 
Hi i have an external hdd,it's a case that converts a stardard ide bus to usb.I've searched for solutions on the forum but i couldn't find.
I've tried all sd** devices from a to h and nothing,i think during the boot was a message something about scsi4 but i try to mount and looks like the device doesn't exist!Any ideia?Thanks in advance!

try running

fdisk -l

to see what devices it recognizes

if it is still not listing ur device then maybe it is not able to ge the support for the drivers in the distro/kernel

Easy trick that may help:

Unplug external drive

Reboot

tail -f /var/log/messages /var/log/syslog /var/log/dmesg

Ignore the output of the previous (but don't ctrl-c it yet)

Connect External drive

Check out new output of previous command

If this doesn't help, post the NEW output here. Someone will probably find it useful.

just plugin ur external drive on the fly and run "dmesg" without the qoutes

it will surely display some messages in the last lines about ur drive

You are doing something wrong. Tail defaults to 10 lines of text. Yhe -f switch does continuos monitoring. Look:

A) (unlikely) Your logging is messed up

or

B) Your hardware is messed up.

Could be B). Seems from what you posted that you have something screwy with your IRQs.
