how to make custom install boot disk?
I have the need for a custom boot disk for installing Slackware 8.1, as the kernel that comes with it has a well known bug that prevents the console from displaying correctly(read: at all) on VIA chipsets with integrated S3 Savage 3D video chipsets.
In the past I could mount the bare.i disk image and replace vmlinuz with a custom one. Slackware 8.1 however seems to have changed everything, and I cannot mount it at all. Could someone offer pointers as to how I can put my custom kernel in the bare.i or scsi.s bootdisk? I tried using slackware 8.0 bare.i as a template with my custom kernel, but it froze up after loading ramdisk...... Thanks |
