How to install Kodi Addon pvr-iptvsimple?

Hello Guys, this is Tiago.
I'm having some difficulties to install the pvr-iptvsimple Addon for Kodi.
First of all i'm using Slackware64 14.2 and I compiled Kodi from Slackbuids(Kodi 16.1).

So I don't know how to install this addon, i found a question in this forum, about the "kodi-tvheadend-pvr-hts"(that is a similar addon for kodi), and there is suggested compile from source. I tried to do that by following this instructions
=>> https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.iptvsimple
And seems that is necessary recompile Kodi to work, i don't know how to do that.
I tried too convert a RPM package to TGZ and install, but no sucess.
This is the last thing to make Slackware my default system and drop the Ubuntu.

Can someone help me?

Thanks for your attention and sorry for my bad english

Based on that, I think it just needs the kodi source to build the plugin. Based on the instructions on that site, you get the source for both pvr-iptv.simple and kodi, then you go into the pvr-iptv.simple's source and then the command you type points it to the kodi source so it can build what it needs.

I think when it's done compiling, you'll find the resulting addon in the xbmc/addons/ folder under the kodi source. You then add that to kodi like any other local addon.

If you run into errors with those commands, paste them here, and we'll see what we can do to figure it out.

Thank you very much, you are the best
I managed to install using this commands:

# git clone https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc.git
# git clone https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.iptvsimple.git
# cd pvr.iptvsimple && mkdir build && cd build
# cmake -DADDONS_TO_BUILD=pvr.iptvsimple -DADDON_SRC_PREFIX=../.. -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=../../xbmc/addons -DPACKAGE_ZIP=1 ../../xbmc/project/cmake/addons
# make
# mv xbmc/addons/pvr.iptvsimple/ /usr/share/kodi/addons/

Done

Solved

I tried xbmc a few years ago in a desktop that included a TV Tuner.

It was pretty Kool.

How do you like kodi ?

How do you use it ?

Thanks.

Not OP, and I can't comment about using it with a PVR since I don't have a TV card (which might be all you're looking for, if so, ignore the rest ), but I love kodi (I still prefer the xbmc name, but I don't really have a choice there). I have a lot of media and it is nice to have everything in a centralized database that is easily updated and managed from multiple devices. My wife and parents are able to use it without issues. Personally, I just have a keyboard sitting in our coffee table that I use to navigate around (and my wife quickly learned the hotkeys she needed, like to download subtitles or watch a movie trailer), but when I gifted my old htpc to my parents, I got them a remote, because my mom is slow to learn technology and I don't think they'd appreciate trying to find a place for a keyboard. I ended up just using OpenELEC on their machine rather than install an OS and then install kodi. For my current htpc, it is running on an AMD 5350 APU with 8GB (seriously overkill, the system is only using 2GB with KDE in the background) on a mini-itx board, and it is quiet and super low power and will play just about anything thrown at it (although, if it is high-quality 1080p h265 content, it might stutter occasionally -- that APU doesn't support h265 hardware decoding). I am using Slackware 14.2 with the opensource radeon driver.

On my phone, I use Yatse to download various episodes and watch them on my lunch break (I can also stream them, but T-Mobile's network is sometimes congested at work and 1080p content can run into buffering issues). I can also start trailers on the TV using it or send videos from youtube to my htpc to watch on the TV using the app. I believe the streaming/downloading to watch your media on the go requires a Pro key, but most of the other features are free.

I use kodi to watch NHL games. I subscribed to NHL.com's service, but they changed their site in the middle of last year and it became impossible to stream the videos from their site. I couldn't even get it to work on Windows, and I read a lot of other similar complaints. Someone made a plugin for it on kodi, for which I am thankful (you still need a subscription to use it).

We also have the PBS ThinkTV plugin, which is a good place to find science documentaries.

Hello friend's, I have a problem with IPTV Simple Client on slackware. First I downloaded and installed kodi 17.3 from slackbuild and after that I try to configure and install IPTV Simple Client with:

Code:
cd /my-home-dir
git clone https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc.git
git clone https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.iptvsimple.git
cd pvr.iptvsimple && mkdir build && cd build
cmake -DADDONS_TO_BUILD=pvr.iptvsimple -DADDON_SRC_PREFIX=../.. -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=../../xbmc/addons -DPACKAGE_ZIP=1 ../../xbmc/cmake/addons
make
mv /my-home-dir/xbmc/addons/pvr.iptvsimple/ /usr/share/kodi/addons/
After this things, I see in kodi IPTV Simple Client but when I try to enable this addon, I have a error massage that can't load shared library. In log file I have this warning massages:

Code:
WARNING: CAddonMgr: 'kodi.binary.global.main' required by 'pvr.iptvsimple' is missing. Add-on may not function correctly
WARNING: CAddonMgr: 'kodi.binary.instance.pvr' required by 'pvr.iptvsimple' is missing. Add-on may not function correctly

Users from kodibg forum advised me to try:
Code:
git checkout -b Krypton origin/Krypton
but without effect.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my english skills.

Cut the first line, you don't need it, I used the folder /kit/kodi-slack-build/addons/ for other addons in that Kodi generic thread.
Code:
wget https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.iptvsimple/archive/Krypton.zip
unzip Krypton.zip
cd pvr.iptvsimple-Krypton
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr
make && make install
ldconfig

It generates an error the text is this

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:7 (find_package):
By not providing "FindKodi.cmake" in CMAKE_MODULE_PATH this project has
asked CMake to find a package configuration file provided by "Kodi", but
CMake did not find one.

Could not find a package configuration file provided by "Kodi" with any of
the following names:

KodiConfig.cmake
kodi-config.cmake

Add the installation prefix of "Kodi" to CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH or set
"Kodi_DIR" to a directory containing one of the above files. If "Kodi"
provides a separate development package or SDK, be sure it has been
installed.

Just to make sure that we are on the same page, I consider you're running Slackware, you're using Kodi 17.X (code name Krypton), you have it installed and you are looking to compile and install the pvr.iptvsimple addon.

In order to be able to compile and add (install) any external addons to Kodi you first need to compile and install the base for addons, that's the platform & kodi-platform.

Have a look here in this rather long post (it's a guide):
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...2/#post5759079
-skip to the section:
Kodi Addons:
- just to avoid getting confused again, follow those instructions and create the folder /kit/kodi-slack-build/addons/ (you can delete it after the installation)
- compile and install:
platform
&
kodi-platform
- then move to your pvr.iptvsimple & other addons you wish to compile&install

Note that there were some changes in the naming of the files between Kodi 16 --> Kodi 17 and some addon build scripts (that weren't updated) are still looking for the old filename. To resolve this, either create a symlink or just run:
Code:
cp /usr/lib/kodi/KodiConfig.cmake /usr/lib/kodi/kodiConfig.cmake
