How to get back my --linux-.--- files??
Serious ZipSlack 9.1 problem . . .
While running Windoze 98SE on C:\ I went into my ZipSlack files on D:\ Thought I would "clean up" a bit. Deleted some files called " --linux-.--- " Later I realized EVERY dir has one. Seems to index the files. (Now I know!) Restarted Linux as root on D:\ ZipSlack seems OK, BUT, the files within dirs which do not have this --linux-.--- file refuse to allow me to chmod them or copy them. I was able to move/copy/delete files before this mishap. As root I should be able to yes? How to force a check at EVERY reboot? Is there a way to get ZipSlack to re-index the drive? I've booted from a CD, typed "#fsck /dev/hdb1" This would not work. Thanks, John. |
Dufferin, why did you start a new thread to ask the same question? If you weren't happy with the answers you got in the thread you started three days ago, why not just bump that thread? That way the discussion stays in one place.

I thought a fresh, new, well described question
would be better for all involved. Thanks for the help, John. |
