how to enable WPA with intel 4965 AGN on Lenovo T61p?

I installed both Ubuntu 7.10 and Slackware 12.0 on this laptop. Ubuntu works out of the box but for slackware, I had to compile modules downloaded from intel's website. The module loads fine (iwl4965 with mac80811 or something like that). I don't know how to configure this wifi card so it works with WPA and WEP. It doesn't seem to connect to any open wireless networks either. Under Ubuntu i can connect just fine (well, they have a working wifi gui tool under gnome that helps out). Any hints?

Do you know about wpa_supplicant? It has a conf file at /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf. Check out /usr/doc/wpa_supplicant-0.5.7 for more info.

Cool, will do. IIRC I remember reading an error message during bootup that mentioned wpa_supplicant. I'll check this out.
