I JUST BOUGHT A BOOK "LINUX COMPLETE" AND APACHE IS NOT LOCATED IN THE SAME DIRECTORY AS IN THE BOOK, ARE THERE ANY SLACKWARE 8.1 AND APACHE SPECIFIC BOOKS OUT THERE?
Anyways. There are ways to add users. Usually it requires additional software like Webmin or whatever.. I don't think Gnome has its own utility tool to add users, at least not that I know of. You can always add them via command line.. which is usually most reliable.
Sure, have you tried searching like Barnes and Nobles site or whatever for Apache books.. O'Reily makes good Apache books..
Usually I like to type in all upper case because it is easier to read, "SORRY"
I bought this book "Linux Complete" it says that if I type in linuxconf it will give me this gui for maintaining users, they even show a picture, but I don't find linuxconf even in slackware 8.1
but I think it may be more redhat specific, like the rest of the book.
Does anybody know how the
"Linux Apache Webserver Administration" book is?
looks like this author has a library on what looks like up to date stuff on linux, but will it work on slackware?

Yeah by default, linuxconf isn't installed by most distros anylonger as its unstable and buggy. Slackware never installed it by default I believe. If you want a good program to administer your Box with a good graphical interface, I suggest getting webmin then..
I personally never read that book, I have the Apache book by O'Reily and "Craig Hunt Series: Apache Administration" which are pretty.
And Apache will run on any Linux OS if that was your question you mentioned at the end there. It should come installed by default with Slackware as well.
Yes Apache is installed, but I have no clue as how to access it, work with it, etc. the book I'm going to return "Linux Complete"
mantions a directory that doesn't even exist in my slackware system. I've noticed that there are apache files in several directorys, and I have no clue which one. I'll get a book instead of bugging you guys.
