How to determine XFreeX86 version

I have slackware 10.2 installed on an older celeron 366mhz laptop. I'm trying to get dvd
working. Dvd's play in xine but really choppy. I want to try the gatos drivers at:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=12629

for my ati card but I don't know what version of the driver to download. It depends on what XFree86 I have installed and I don't know how to determine this. I found a post here that said to use:

X -version , which gives me the following output:

X Window System Version 6.8.2
Release Date: 9 February 2005
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.2
Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.13 i686 [ELF]
Current Operating System: Linux mag 2.4.31 #6 Sun Jun 5 19:04:47 PDT 2005 i686
Build Date: 11 September 2005
Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.Org
to make sure that you have the latest version.
Module Loader present

How can i tell from the above which version (4.1,4.2,4.3) to download?
Also I don't know if this is important but I don't seem to have an XFree86Config file in my
/etc/X11/ directory. Most of linux experience is with mandrake/mandriva so this is different for me.

Slackware like many other distro's switched to xorg, not XFree86. The version your seeing is for xorg.

Your probably better off with the: ati.4.4.0: X.org 6.7.0 driver and not the XFree86 drivers.
