How to connect and configure speakers

Hi,

I'd like to connect an old set of 5.1 speakers (that used to be "back left", "back right", "front left", "front right", "center" and "bass") to the back of my desktop computer that only has five places for jacks: black, orange, blue, green and pink. One of them should be an input.

Sound configuration always sounded complex to me, so I need a hand at this.

I guess there is no way to connect all the speakers I have to the motherboard, is there?
What options do I have to configure this system? Leave the front speakers out? Other?

Where do I define what kind of sound to go to which speaker? Is there any gui application? Or do I need to delve into alsa configurations, or pulseaudio's ones that I have never simple and good tutorials for?

Edit: I'm using Slackware64 current

Wrote too soon. I've already connected the jacks. The 5.1 system has only three (black, orange and green). Then, at the sub-woofer it divides the sound to all the speakers.

And pavucontrol seems to do the configuration magic, although haven't tested yet if each sound goes to the right speaker.
