Question How to configure Telnet to startt?


What step that i have to do till i can connect to server by using telnet command then i can control server for long distance?

What should i do first?

What i need to add service more to make it start?

Please detail or tell me a website that have toturial about this to configure.

Thanks in advance for everyone.

you can uncomment the line that starts the telnetserver in /etc/inetd.conf,
but it's safer to use ssh

to start ssh, make /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd executable and run " /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd start "
( it will also be started anytime you boot )

There's some telnet info on the Linux Home Networking site.

Might not be as detailed as you want, but will get you started.

I think we can assume its Slackware, since this is a Slackware forum. I vote on SSH because it is far easier to activate, maintain and use plus it is secure.

Ooops. Sorry tuxdev/Khmer. I need to learn to read first. I came across this thread from my RSS feed. I second the use of SSH for this task.

I agree with all above...but go one step further and make sure Protocol 2 is used as well as no root logins....safer in the long run.
