how to change domain name for login

Hey, 1st time user of linux and only installed today.

Figured out how to do most stuff with the HOW-TO's and bobbin on the forum, but I cant find the answer.

Ive setup my login durin setup wrong by accident. Not a big deal I know but it'll annoy me. :>

its just the part where after you boot it asks you to login. eg.

"Bobscomp": Login:

not worked out how to add more users yet so just usin the root jobbie atm.

To the point:
On my slackware I can't find /etc/sysconfig. If I remember correctly, I have seen this on a redhat box. On my slackware I can change the "domain name for login" with
# /bin/hostname new_name
This will make the prompt look like root@new_name
If fwee really wants that. If I missunderstood the point, I will apologize

yea I couldnt find etc/sys config either.
