How to change default file path when opening or saving a file

One of the reasons I stopped using windows was because every time I do a file open or a file save as the application I was using would default to the Documents directory. I see that KDE has implemented this annoying feature. XFCE doesn't do this. The question I have is, how can I change it to default to my $HOME directory? Terminal also defaults to the Documents directory. I'd like that changed as well. I'm sure it some global config somewhere. ;-)

I searched, but only found this on a opensuse forum:

Application Launcher > Desktop settings > About me (General tab)

But, that was for KDE 4.2.

I'm using Slackware 13.37 64Bit with KDE 4.6.2 (or whichever version ships with 13.37).

Thanks!!

Have you tried checking in System Settings > About Me > Paths? Not sure if that is the correct location I am thinking of or not....

If not, I would try using the gconf-editor tool, if your distro has it, and search for konqueror and/or KDE, and look within the system settings for it there.

Cheers,

Josh

In KDE 4.7 it is in System settings -> Account details -> Paths

Thank you!!

I thought that was it, but the icon it uses is the same for Dolphin, so I thought that it only had those paths for it and not for all applications.

Thanks again!

Oops, I was a tad bit off. Haven't used KDE in a bit....
