My laptop is HP 6531S with Intel WiFi 5100 wireless module(802.11 agn), and my OS is Slackware 12.1(without any updates).
The problem is: I cannot find my wireless card in Slackware 12.1. When I use "ifconfig -a" to list my NIC, I can find my ethernet card and loopback, nothing else.
I tried some different ways to bring it up, but failed.
Anybody knows how to fix it? Thanks a lot!

But I found a page saying that you need to get the firmware from http://intellinuxwireless.org/ to get it to work, although I checked out the site and didn't see anything specific to firmware.
I cannot find an official driver on Intel's website.
The problem is that Slackware 12.1 cannot recognize my wireless card.
I tried the driver from intellinuxwireless.org, but it didn't work. The same problem is with "Linux wireless drivers" which called compat-wireless-old.tar.bz2
BTW, DO NOT USE THE LATEST compat-wireless-2.6!!! After Sep 9th, the package is modified, when you were compiling the source, there would be an error. so you should download the compat-wireless-2.6-old-20080909.tar.bz2
