how to addusr without setting any passwd?

this is my case: (at home --I'm the only linux user) I've got the root user without passwd (like it cames by default), and wanna have the same way in my other account -a plain user acc.- ...but I don't know how to do that... the only idea I have had is to set its user passwd to : ' ' (nothing)... ecually, I'm propmted to put it! (just to press 'enter')
how can I 'erease' that input passwd prompt, or how can I add an user without passwd?
the 'normal' think is to have the super user with a passwd, and the plain user without it...
any idea is welcome.

you need to edit the /etc/passwd file, look for the user and take the x out of the file, like this:

Code:
mago::1003:100::/home/mago:

If you are booting into X, you can set it up to auto login a certain user. KDE can do that, not sure about GNOME, and not sure if it's possible in plain old console log in

Just a friendly FYI:

If this machine is connected to a network of any kind, internet, network with other users, I highly suggest having all accounts with a password or your opening your machine up to anyone. Even if you don't have anything important on there, without a password you are opening up your box to serve as a point of online attacks, make attacks to other machines/networks, etc, and it would all come back to you, not the person using your machine for such things.

Regards.

there is a simple way to disable a password. let's say you want to disable the password for user miniki, you would type the following as root:
Code:
passwd -d miniki
