You just need to make those directory. It seem that VMWare use it only for a check... Do:
mkdir /etc/rc.d/rc0.d
mkdir /etc/rc.d/rc1.d
mkdir /etc/rc.d/rc2.d
mkdir /etc/rc.d/rc3.d
mkdir /etc/rc.d/rc4.d
mkdir /etc/rc.d/rc5.d
mkdir /etc/rc.d/rc6.d
And, at the VMWare question, enter:
/etc/rc.d
That's it!
