How do you disable syslog buffering...

I've been messing around with fail2ban regex and heard that you can get better performance by disabling syslogd buffering. By better performance I mean that fail2ban can detect more login failures per second than with syslogd buffering turned on.

How do you disable syslogd buffering?

Also, are there any disadvantages to disabling syslogd buffering?

I think that's referring to the concept explained in the header of /etc/syslog.conf
