Question How do I use a floppy disk?

I am trying to mount a floppy. it had some stuff on it from windows and I thought that I needed to change the filesystem. so i used fdisk to get rid of the windows partition and made a linux one. but how do I format it or something with like ext2 or some such file system so I can use it?

thanks for any help

To format a floppy
#fdformat /dev/fd0
to make the ext2 fs on floppy:
#mkfs -t ext2 -c -v /dev/fd0

To mount the floppy:
#mount /dev/fd0

Hope this is what you needed.

you don't need to format the floppy. linux can read
the dos format. you can't fdisk a floppy anyway.

if you do format the floppy, you'll lose what was on it.
