Man, please don't make blind guesses like this. It's quite likely that the files he's trying to execute simply aren't flag as executeable. PAM has nothing to do with the execution of ordinary binaries, and should he follow your instructions and just remove PAM, he's going to get more than just a "different error", he's not going to be able to login again.

I'm also pretty sure there's an OO package built against Dropline mentioned on the Dropline forums (edited: formerly "site"), which will have the menu items.
