How do I manually install NIC and How do I make lilo work?

I just installed Slackware 10.1 on my system. I have a 2 HDD system, my first 80 GB HD has and NTFS partition with XP on it. My 13 GB slave drive is where I installed Slackware. My fist problem is, how do I get it to use my NIC card so I can get online, it detected it during install but I cant surf. And second, During install it said it couldnt install lilo due to an error. Is there a way to install lilo to the MBR or how do I include it in the windows xp bootloader.

As root:

To install lilo:
Code:
/sbin/lilo
Try dhcp for your NIC
Code:
dhcpcd eth0

for lilo :

-type : #liloconfig
-choose expert mode
-start with new header
-add linux
-add windows
-install in the mbr ( you'll be prompted for the drive; choose the booting one )

for network:
-type #netconfig
-choose dhcp or fill in adress+natmask+gateway.
-type #/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 stop
-type #/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 start
-type #ifconfig to check if " eth0 " is there.

Ok I tried /sbin/lilo, that didn't work, I tried the #liloconfig and it gave me the same Error 1, saying it couldnt write it to the MBR. As for my Nic's i tried dhcp, didnt do anything, and then i tried the #netconfig method, and it did something, but when i did the #ifconfig, there was no eth0, instead it said loopback or something, I didnt choose Loopback in the #netconfig.

You should advise what kind of NIC you have. List the output of lsmod. Does it look like your NIC's module is loading.

As to lilo, I would search this forum as this same problem was addressed a couple times in the last week.
