How Do I Install Windows Server 3008 Along Side Slackware?
 
I want to install either windows xp or windows server 2003 or 2008. Now i want to make it so when i boot i get the bootloader window asking for windows or linux. How do i install my windows so when i click enter on windows it boots windows?

Create a partition for Windows. I don't know about those versions, but Windows 7 doesn't like logical partitions. Install it. When you're done, either boot from the Slack CD or from the USB boot-disk you can create in install or using pkgtool. Edit your lilo.conf so that it chainloads to the Windows partition, run lilo and it works.

how do i partition the hard drive should i get gparted? as i dunno if bootloader for slackware will recognize windows dont i need to install it in the root directory for the boot loader for slackware to see windows?

Hi,

The norm is to install M$ Xp first then do the Slackware or Gnu/Linux install. M$ can be done after Gnu/Linux but it is more work.

Why not use a Slackware VM host for client M$ installs?

I like 'VirtualBox' while some like QEMU or KVM (Kernel Based Virtual Machine), KVM requires (Intel VT or AMD-V).

I figured i could install over again. made two diff partitions installed windows 7 professional first then installed slackare so it recognizes the window partition so i can boot either when i want :) Thanks for the help guys.
